The theme is "Jubilation".
Size requirements are for work that will fit into a space allotted similar to two 24 x 24 paintings for each artist.

The Junior League of Raleigh and Visual Art Exchange present "Small Treasures"
The Junior League of Raleigh (JLR) and Visual Art Exchange (VAE) present Small Treasures, a juried art exhibition October 24-28, 2012. This exhibit is a special feature of the JLR's A Shopping SPREE!, an annual four-day shopping fundraiser that attracts approximately 12,000 shoppers annually from around the country.
Small Treasures will be juried by Melissa Peden and Rory Parnell with over $1,000 in prizes.
Artists may enter up to two pieces exploring this year's theme of Small Treasures. In keeping with this year's theme, work must measure no more than 20x20". This exhibit is open to all two-dimensional artwork, excluding photography, by living Carolina artists.

Free Creativity Workshop
Please plan to attend a free workshop with Chrystal Hardt on the 22nd of September from 10:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the PCC studio space beside the Kirby Gallery.
We will learn various fun techniques to stimulate the imagination and new ways of composing pictures that are personally significant.
This is a process oriented workshop with an emphasis on stimulating new ideas for your art. The workshop will be for beginners as well as experienced artists. No experience is necessary.

29th Annual BAL Fine Arts Competition
The Burlington Artists League in conjunction with the BAL Fine Arts Gallery will be hosting the 29th Annual Fine Arts Competition that will be open to the public. Opening Reception is on Sunday, October 7, 2012 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. Best In Show cash Awards will be as follows: $250.00 First place; $200.00 Second place; and $150.00 Third place. Additionally 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Honorable Mention non-cash recognition ribbons will be awarded to each entry category and all awards will be announced at the reception. All eighteen years or older artists are welcome to submit art for the competition.
Entry Requirements:
Submit Artwork either Tuesday, Sept. 25 or Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012 from 1:00 to 7:00 pm at the Burlington Artists League Fine Arts Gallery. Entry forms must be completed and fees submitted at the time art is received.
Only original composition works by the artist, completed in the past two years, in drawing, painting, graphic art, collage, photography, sculpture, jewelry and mixed media, will be accepted and judged.
The entry fee is $30.00 for non-members and $15.00 for members of the Burlington Artists League that have joined at least 30 days prior to the competition entry date. This fee enables the artist to present up to three pieces for the competition.
The Burlington Artists League welcomes new members for an annual membership fee of $25.00. The forms are available at the Gallery or online at: http://www.BALartists.com

Emerging Artist Grant Program
The Kirby Gallery, located at 213 N. Main Street, Roxboro, NC, is hosting the Durham Arts Council's emerging artist information session on August 7, 2012 at 6 PM. The Emerging Artists Grant Program provides career development grants to individual artists at turning points in their careers. Top amount they can request is $1,500. Applications are due at the Durham Arts Council on September 12. Artists who are at least 18 and have been residents of Person County for at least one year on September 12 2012 are eligible. The information session is just an informal discussion that allows applicants to ask questions and discuss possible projects. Artists do not have to attend the information session to apply to the program, but we do recommend it. Please visit the Durham Arts Council website for more information and links to the applications.
